Uses of sulphuric acid

H₂SO₄

Fertilizer industry. This is mainly related to the production of superphosphates and ammonium phosphate and sulfate.

It is used in the production of explosives as one of the raw materials for the production of TNT.

It is necessary in the production of other acids, e.g. hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and phosphoric acid.

In the petrochemical industry, sulfuric acid is mainly used to dry oils, kerosene and paraffin.

It acts as a catalyst in the reaction to obtain isooctane, which is one of the main components of gasoline.

It is used in mining and metallurgy, where it is used in the processes of enriching copper ore.

It is an electrolyte in popular lead-acid batteries.

It is widely used in the detergent industry (e.g. in the production of sodium lauryl sulfate).

In the cosmetics industry, where it is used to produce raw materials and semi-finished products (e.g. silver nitrate), as well as hydrogen peroxide and fragrances.
